Udawalawe is one of the best places in Sri Lanka to observe wild elephants in their natural habitat, with sightings possible throughout the year. The park’s open grasslands, reservoirs, and scrub forests also support water buffalo, crocodiles, jackals, deer, monkeys, and an impressive variety of birds. Its open landscapes make wildlife easy to spot, making it a favourite for first-time safari visitors.
